Laptop won't turn on, spilt a drink, or won't charge?
Board-level repair instead of a costly replacement. I'm based in Coventry and repair laptops sent by post from anywhere in the UK.

Laptop won't power on
No lights, no fan, no charging light, or dies immediately. I diagnose at component level to find the failed part on the motherboard.
Liquid damage
Tea, coffee, water or other spills. The sooner the laptop is switched off and sent, the better the chance. Boards are cleaned and damaged components replaced where possible.
Charging and port faults
Loose or broken DC jack, USB-C charging port faults, "plugged in, not charging", or the charger works but the laptop does not.
How it works
- Send an enquiry. Tell me the make, model and what happened using the form below.
- Pack it safely. I send you simple packing instructions. Use tracked, insured postage. Local Coventry customers can contact me to arrange a drop-off.
- Diagnosis and quote. I inspect the board and send you a fixed quote before any repair work starts.
- Repair and test. Once you approve, I repair the fault and test the laptop.
- Return. Your laptop is sent back tracked. The repaired fault is covered by a 30-day warranty.

Questions
Will you look at my personal files?
No. I repair hardware and do not access your data. Please back up if you can and remove any passwords or accounts you don't want on the device. Repairs can occasionally risk data, so back-up is strongly recommended.
My laptop got wet. What should I do?
Switch it off immediately, unplug the charger, remove the battery if it is removable, and don't try to turn it on to "test" it. Send it as soon as you can.
Do I need to send the charger?
Usually yes, it helps to test charging faults. Please tell me if it's a third-party charger.
How long does a repair take?
Turnaround depends on the fault and on parts. I confirm an estimated time in your quote.
What if it can't be repaired?
You'll be told after diagnosis. If I cannot repair your laptop, you pay only the diagnosis fee.
Is the diagnosis fee part of the repair price?
No. The diagnosis fee is a separate charge in every case and is added to the repair cost. If you decide not to go ahead after the quote, you pay only the diagnosis fee.
How do I pay?
Payment details are sent with your quote. I never ask for payment before diagnosis unless agreed.

What I collect. The details you enter in the enquiry form: your name, email address, optional mobile number, your laptop's make and model, a description of the fault and how you would like to hand it over. If we arrange a collection, drop-off or return, I will also need your address.
Why. To reply to your enquiry, give you a quote, carry out the repair, return your laptop and keep the records I need for warranty and accounting. I do not use your details for marketing and I do not sell them.

How long I keep it. Enquiry and job records are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and repair and to honour the warranty. Records I must keep for accounting are kept for as long as the law requires.
Your rights. You can ask to see the personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how I use it, by emailing me. If you are unhappy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
